Description:  The story behind CP 8757 began with 13-year-old Jacob Hoffer, an Indigenous youth who in the summer of 2021 wrote to CP asking the railroad to consider painting one of CP’s locomotives orange. CP responded positively, and sought guidance from the Orange Shirt Society, a non-profit organization that supports Residential School Reconciliation and creates awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of Residential Schools, to develop the special livery.

Description:  While driving on the QEW Highway, from the railroad overpass, I was able to see CP Train 255 coming my way, and got to the Pettit Road Crossing just in time for a few pics - with a little fall color to spice things up. If you look closely, you can see the old signal rack where all the tracks diverge at the west end of CN Duff Yard.

Description:  How a train chase begins! I was heading west, when extra-long eastbound CP Train 143 suddenly appeared flying out of the Welland Canal tunnel. I was able to get turned around quickly, and caught the train right where I wanted - at Forks Road grade crossing. Note the Hapag-Lloyd shipping containers. I didn't know it at the time, but the trailing locomotive was also emblazoned in a similar orange paint scheme.

Description:  Almost identical, somewhat accidental, CP train encounter as yesterday. I was headed for Brookfield to check to see if there was a green signal on the CP connector track. But before I even got there, the signal lamps came on at Brookfield Road crossing, forcing me to make a quick u-turn, and head back to Miller Road for a nice pic in the sunshine. And I got there just in time.
